# Terms of Service These terms cover the Foleo macOS app, this website, and Foleo Publish. They are written for a private beta and describe how the product actually works, updated 2026-09-20. ## Accepting these terms By creating a Foleo Publish account, publishing content, connecting an agent, or otherwise using the hosted service, you agree to these terms. You can use the desktop app without an account and without using Publish; that app is separately licensed under the MIT License. If you do not agree, do not use Publish. ## Eligibility and the private beta The desktop app is free to download and does not require an invitation. Foleo Publish is a private beta: access is by invitation, invitations go out in small batches, and an invitation can be withdrawn. Joining the waitlist at publish.foleo.app/sign-up is a request, not a right to an account. You need an email address you control to sign in. ## Accounts and sign-in codes Publish accounts are tied to an email address. We send a one-time sign-in code to that address; transactional email is delivered via Resend from mail.foleo.app. Sign-in uses that code, not an account password. Keep the codes you receive to yourself. You are responsible for activity on your account, including actions an agent takes after you approve access. ## Acceptable use Do not use Publish to phish, distribute malware, harass people, infringe copyright, spam, or publish content that is illegal or that you do not have the right to share. Do not probe or disrupt the service, impersonate Foleo, or try to access someone else's account. We may suspend an account or remove content that breaks these rules. ## Your content You keep ownership of the files you publish. Foleo does not claim copyright in your content. To operate the service you grant Foleo a limited license to store, copy, render, and serve that content at the URLs you create, to make the operational copies needed to host it, and to review it when investigating abuse. That license ends when the Foleo-held copies are gone, subject to the deletion semantics below and to copies that already left our systems, such as a page a reader saved. ## Active HTML Some invited accounts can publish active HTML: user-authored pages that run in readers' browsers on an isolated foleo.site origin. This is an operator-gated alpha, not a general hosting product. Foleo does not modify your HTML. You are the publisher, and you are responsible for what that HTML does, including scripts, forms, downloads, and any harm it causes a reader. Do not publish HTML that collects secrets or impersonates another service. ## Agents acting for you Invited accounts can let a coding agent act on their behalf through the @foleo/cli command line tool and a remote MCP server at mcp.foleo.app. An agent publishes, updates, unpublishes, or deletes only with the access you grant, and some actions need a further approval in the browser. You remain responsible for what is published. Revoking a connection in the dashboard is what ends that access; deleting a client's configuration file does not revoke it. ## Abuse reports and takedown If you find phishing, malware, harassment, copyright abuse, or other harmful content on a foleo.site page, use the report form at publish.foleo.app/report. Reports create an urgent operator alert, and harmful pages can be removed immediately. We may also suspend an account that is used to abuse the service. For follow-up, email support@foleo.app. ## Availability during the beta Publish is a private beta. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, a particular feature set, or that published URLs will remain reachable forever. We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the service, including during incidents or to stop abuse. We may close or refuse an account. Where we can, we will say so at foleo.app or by email. ## Unpublish, delete, and purge These words mean specific things in Foleo. Unpublish is reversible, timerless, and byte-preserving: reader links return 404, and you can publish again. Delete immediately stops routing and starts a 30-day restore window for Foleo-held cloud bytes; it never deletes files on your computer. Purge skips that window and is irreversible, but it is still asynchronous: a request being accepted is not the same as the bytes being gone. None of these actions is a substitute for keeping your own copies. ## The desktop app The Foleo macOS app is a free, signed, and notarized download. It is local-first: it reads folders on your Mac, does not require an account, and does not upload your documents. It periodically contacts downloads.foleo.app to check for updates. The app is released under the MIT License and is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. ## Third-party infrastructure Publish and this website run on Cloudflare. Transactional email is sent by Resend from mail.foleo.app. Those providers process data as needed to deliver the service. Our privacy page at foleo.app/privacy describes what we collect. ## No warranties Foleo is offered as is during this beta. We do not warrant that the service is error-free, that published pages are fit for a particular purpose, or that we will retain your content beyond the deletion semantics above. To the extent the law allows, Foleo is not liable for lost profits, lost data, indirect or consequential damages, or other losses arising from your use of the app or Publish. This does not affect rights that cannot be waived. ## Changes and contact We may change these terms as the beta evolves. The current version will always live at foleo.app/terms. Continued use of Publish after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, unpublish or delete your content and stop using the service.
