Changelog
Everything new in Foleo
Every shipped fix, improvement, and feature across the Mac app, the Publish dashboard, the CLI, the MCP server, and the agent plugin, drawn straight from the source. Beta marks what is live for invited accounts.
Latest: macOS 0.1.20 · CLI 0.1.36 · Plugin 0.1.9
Added
- macOS 0.1.20 Tooltips throughout Foleo now have Foleo's own look, switch instantly as you move between buttons, and appear when you tab to a control with the keyboard.
- macOS 0.1.18 Google Drive shortcut folders now appear in the sidebar with a link badge and a lock. You can open, search and link to the files inside them, and Foleo never edits, saves, moves or creates anything in them. Links Foleo doesn't follow, such as ones to folders outside your cloud drive, show dimmed with the reason.
- macOS 0.1.18 Mark any folder Read-Only in Foleo by right-clicking it, or the whole workspace from the workspace menu. Foleo then opens its files view-only and never saves, moves or creates anything in it, even after a sync app renames it. A lock shows which files are protected.
Fixed
- macOS 0.1.20 Hovering the lock, cloud and link icons in the sidebar now says what each one means, and files inside a shortcut folder no longer show a long "alias to" path.
- macOS 0.1.19 The read-only, "couldn't save" and "unsaved edits from last time" notices now appear below the tab bar instead of hidden behind it.
- macOS 0.1.19 Editing a CSV or TSV file keeps its line endings, any blank lines at the end, and its byte-order mark, so saving changes only the cells you edited. Windows-style files no longer get every line rewritten, and the final newline is no longer dropped.
- macOS 0.1.18 Opening a Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or iCloud Drive folder no longer downloads every online-only file in the background. They show a cloud icon in the sidebar and download only when you open them. Tabs you aren't looking at no longer reload changed files, images or web pages, and download them, in the background; they catch up when you switch to them.
- macOS 0.1.18 Foleo no longer silently overwrites a file that changed on disk while you were editing it, for example by a sync app or another Foleo window. A banner lets you keep your version, save yours as a copy, or reload. (A change that lands in the moment Foleo is writing can still be overwritten.)
- macOS 0.1.18 Closing a tab, a window or Foleo with ⌘Q right after typing, including in a CSV cell you haven't finished, no longer loses your last edits. Foleo saves first, keeps open anything it couldn't save, and asks before discarding it. While it checks every window before quitting, editing pauses briefly so nothing typed in between is lost, and if a window doesn't respond Foleo asks before quitting.
- macOS 0.1.18 Edits Foleo couldn't save are kept even if the window reloads or macOS closes Foleo, for example from the Dock or at logout. The next time you open the file, Foleo offers them back as a copy, on the clipboard, or to discard. (Quitting from the Dock or at logout can still lose about the last second of ordinary typing.)
- macOS 0.1.18 If a file or folder is read-only, Foleo says so and keeps your edits, with options to try again, save a copy, copy your edits or discard them. Making a folder read-only while you edit one of its files keeps your unsaved edits and undo history.
- macOS 0.1.18 Foleo no longer moves or overwrites cloud document placeholders such as Google Docs, Sheets and Slides shortcuts, Dropbox Paper or Box Notes.
- macOS 0.1.18 Edits you type while Foleo reloads a file from disk are no longer replaced by an older copy, which was most likely in cloud-synced folders.
- macOS 0.1.18 Moving a file in the sidebar never replaces a file of the same name at the destination.
- macOS 0.1.18 Saving keeps the file's permissions and access rules, no longer overwrites files you aren't allowed to change (including through macOS access rules), and tries to remove its temporary file if a save fails.
- macOS 0.1.18 Links to a note's aliases now work in files saved with Windows line endings, and aliases keep quote marks that are part of the name.
Security
- macOS 0.1.20 Images and previews in Foleo can now only load files from folders you've opened, instead of from anywhere on your Mac.
- macOS 0.1.18 Search and backlinks no longer read the contents of files that are symlinks to places outside the open folder.
- macOS 0.1.18 Saves, copies, moves and file reads now always use the folder Foleo checked, even if another app swaps a folder for a link while it works, so they can't be redirected into a protected or outside folder.
Fixed
- macOS 0.1.17 Table cells keep their formatting while you edit: no stray backticks or brackets, and the caret lands where you click.
- macOS 0.1.17 Typing in a table cell after editing another no longer closes it and sends your keystrokes into the document.
Fixed
- macOS 0.1.16 Double-clicking a file in Finder while Foleo is closed opens it, not a window asking you to choose a folder.
- macOS 0.1.16 A file in a folder macOS hasn't let Foleo read still opens, with Allow access to show the rest of the folder.
- macOS 0.1.16 Opening files from several folders at once gives each folder its own window instead of losing all but one.
- macOS 0.1.16 A file Foleo can't open now says why instead of doing nothing, and new windows no longer cover the last one.
Added
- Plugin 0.1.9Beta The Foleo plugin explains how to attach images to a Markdown document published through the connector.
- MCPBeta Markdown published from a connector can include its own images (a chart PNG, say). Stage a PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP with
stage_foleo_uploadand attach it topublish_foleo_artifactby the relative path the Markdown uses. A document holds up to 8 images of 1 MiB each, an update keeps the current images unless you replace them, and a private document's images open only for the same signed-in members. SVG is never accepted.
Fixed
- MCPBeta Approval pages say exactly where a request stands (out of date, expired, approved, rejected or interrupted) and only offer Approve while it's pending. Refusals now include every detail the agent needs, such as the page's current address; script warnings follow one published rule; and results are about a fifth shorter.
- MCPBeta Agents can bring an offline or restored page back without resending it (
source: {reuse: "current"}); it goes through the same checks as any publish and refuses anything still under review. Delete, restore and unpublish results now say where the page is and how to bring it back, pages published after your approval come with an undo, and Markdown results include their content hash and a working etag. - MCPBeta Connectors that send nested settings as text (some Claude apps do) now work. An approval request that went out of date because the page changed now says so and can't be approved, and approvals no longer guess when Foleo can't read your connection's policy for a moment: the agent is told to retry instead.
Added
- CLI 0.1.36Beta
foleo settings <id> --set foleoBarDisplay=shown|hiddencontrols the Foleo bar on an unlisted HTML page. The bundled skill and help explain the bar and that hiding it needs an entitlement only Foleo staff hold during beta. - WebBeta Unlisted HTML pages now open with a thin Foleo bar above them, showing the page's title, a Share menu (copy link, share, report) and Open in Foleo. The page itself is untouched and keeps its address, and tools that fetch a page directly (agents, curl, link previews) still get it exactly as published. Pages that rely on being the top-level window, on
window.openhandles or on passkeys behave differently inside the frame, and browser storage such as saved settings starts fresh once for existing pages.
Changed
- MCPBeta Agents see the safety check's limits up front (128,000 characters per page, 64,000 of inline script, 256 scripts) instead of hitting them by surprise, and a page over one says which. Plain scripts are no longer flagged for review.
- MCPBeta Friendlier publishing from Claude: an etag works with or without its quote marks, a page's library title follows its
<title>until you set one yourself, a rejected name comes with a suggestion,list_foleo_artifactscan search, uploads stay open for an hour, and the note on a page's security mode says why it was chosen. Pages that use Claude's own storage or database (claude.use(...)) now get the warning that those parts won't work outside Claude. - WebBeta Markdown documents can include small inline images (PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP, up to 64 KiB each), and a missing image's warning names the image and how to fix it.
- CLI 0.1.35Beta The bundled skill describes the new private-page screen for Markdown and HTML.
- WebBeta Private pages, HTML and Markdown alike, now show the same "This page is private, or the link is wrong" screen with a Sign in button, instead of sending you straight to the login page. A link that leads nowhere shows the same screen, so it never reveals whether a private page exists.
- WebBeta Your Library now previews your own private and password pages like every other card, and diagrams in Markdown previews no longer show as broken. Offline and unavailable cards show a clear icon and label.
- WebBeta The page for reviewing an agent's publish request fits on a phone: Approve and Reject no longer overlap, and the confirmation is one short centered message.
- WebBeta Each Markdown document's images now have their own address, so two documents that use the same image name can no longer show each other's pictures.
- CLI 0.1.34Beta
foleo settings <id> --set visibility=privatemakes a Markdown document private at its same link, and the CLI's help and bundled skill now describe private Markdown.
- CLI 0.1.36Beta
Changed
- WebBeta Markdown documents can be private at the same link. Signed in to Foleo, you see the document; anyone else sees a "This page is private, or the link is wrong" screen with a Sign in button, whether or not a document is there. Choose Private or "Anyone with the link" in the document's settings.
- MCPBeta Agents can publish Markdown as private, and make a private document unlisted when your connection allows it.
- Plugin 0.1.8Beta The Foleo plugin tells agents that a Markdown document can be private at its same link, opening only for signed-in members of your Foleo organization, and that making it unlisted again follows your connection's setting.
- WebBeta The connect screen now preselects "Private and unlisted pages" for a new connection, and each choice is one short line with the details in a single note below.
- WebBeta New agent connections default to "Private and unlisted pages", so agents can publish private pages and unlisted pages (anyone with the link can open them) without asking you. Connections that never chose a setting move to the same default. Private only, and "Ask each time", are still in Access.
- Plugin 0.1.7Beta The Foleo plugin describes the new default connection setting.
Fixed
- MCPBeta Asking an agent for a Markdown setting Foleo doesn't support (a password or public page) now explains what to do instead, rather than returning an error that looked worth retrying.
Added
- MCPBeta Pages an agent publishes now get their own address, like
quarterly-report--yourhandle.foleo.site, that doesn't count toward your name limits. An agent can still ask for a short name of your choosing. - MCPBeta Agents can check a name, or preview the address a page would get, without sending the page.
- MCPBeta Agents can update a page by sending only the text that changed, send large pages in pieces, and read a page's source back to keep working on it.
- MCPBeta "Put this Claude artifact on Foleo" now works in one sentence: agents are told how to prepare the page, pages that rely on Claude-only features get a note, and the page remembers it came from Claude.
- WebBeta The library marks pages that came from a Claude artifact "From Claude".
- Plugin 0.1.5Beta The Foleo plugin describes agent addresses, name checks, text-only updates, uploads, reading source back, and publishing Claude artifacts.
- WebBeta Your private HTML pages now open at their own address. If you're signed in to Foleo they open straight away; if not, you sign in once and land back on the page. Everyone else still gets "not found".
- MCPBeta Once you set a connection's policy to Private in Access, an agent can publish a private HTML page in one call, with no approval page. Pages that collect passwords, card numbers or sign-in codes, or look like Foleo's sign-in, still come to you for review.
- MCPBeta Pages that make no outside connections can be published under a stricter "contained" profile, and if you opt in, those pages can go unlisted without review.
- WebBeta Choose each agent connection's publishing policy when you connect it, and change it any time in Access.
- WebBeta The library shows "Published by" the agent on pages published under your connection's policy.
- Plugin 0.1.4Beta The Foleo plugin explains connection publishing policies and access approvals to agents.
- CLI 0.1.33Beta
--acknowledge-access-wideningonsettings,restore,name attach, name set, publishandupdaterecords that you approved a change that lets more people read a page or gives it another address. Foleo requires it when the CLI uses an API key (FOLEO_TOKEN); signing in withfoleo loginor the Mac app never needs it, and neither does narrowing access. - CLI 0.1.33Beta
--runtime-profile auto|open|containedchooses how an HTML page runs when you publish or update it. A page that cannot run contained is refused with the references that block it, never quietly published open, and--dry-runnow shows the profile, the address and the name it would use.
Changed
- WebBeta "View published site" in the dashboard now opens the page's own address, and older links to an artifact's published site stay in the dashboard.
- MCPBeta Results now tell agents that a private page's address opens for its owner after Foleo sign-in.
- MCPBeta An agent can no longer make a page readable by more people, or give it another address, beyond what its connection's policy allows. It gets an approval link for you instead.
- MCPBeta Renaming or retitling a page no longer cancels a pending HTML approval, and an expired approval can be restaged without sending the page again.
- WebBeta A new connection choice, "Private and unlisted pages", lets agents publish private pages and unlisted pages (anyone with the link can open them) without asking you. Pages that look like they collect passwords, card numbers or sign-in codes still come to you first.
- WebBeta Agent connections made before the connection choice existed now publish private pages without asking, like new ones. "Ask each time" is still there in Access if you want it.
- MCPBeta When a page does wait for your approval, the agent is told why: a safety check, your connection asks each time, or the request goes beyond what the connection allows. It's also told where you can change that.
- Plugin 0.1.6Beta The Foleo plugin describes the "Private and unlisted pages" connection policy, and tells agents to pass on why a page is waiting for your approval and which policy would let pages like it publish without asking.
Fixed
- MCPBeta Checking certain malformed HTML pages could take far longer than it should. Publishing checks now run in a fraction of the time, and agent HTML pages can be up to 512 KB, with a clear message pointing larger sites to the CLI.
- MCPBeta A name Foleo can't use now always comes with a usable suggestion, taken from the page's title when needed. When an approval expires, agents are told how to get a new review link without sending the page again.
- MCPBeta Pages an agent publishes now get their own address, like
Changed
- MCPBeta Agents can publish an HTML page without picking a name first. Foleo derives one from the page title, fixes a name that breaks the rules, and suggests a free one when yours is taken.
- MCPBeta Every result now includes a dashboard link and says who the page's address opens for, so an agent won't hand you a private link that doesn't open.
- MCPBeta The connector now explains its rules to agents that don't have the Foleo skill, as in claude.ai, and says plainly which changes take effect immediately without asking anyone.
- WebBeta An agent's HTML approval page now lists what needs your review first and marks routine items, like web fonts, as routine.
Fixed
- WebBeta Opening an agent's HTML approval link while signed out now returns you to that approval after Foleo sign-in, instead of your library.
Added
- Plugin 0.1.3Beta The Foleo plugin from
getfoleo/pluginsnow also installs in Cursor, VS Code, and GitHub Copilot, alongside Claude Code and Codex.
Fixed
- macOS 0.1.15 Foleo now notices a new update within about 10 minutes while it's open, instead of up to an hour.
- macOS 0.1.14 Starting with the next update after this one, installing an update reopens your workspaces and tabs instead of the welcome screen.
- macOS 0.1.14 Before an update restarts Foleo, every open window saves its pending edits; if one can't be saved, the update waits instead of losing your changes.
- Plugin 0.1.3Beta The Foleo plugin from
Added
- Plugin 0.1.2Beta Install the Foleo plugin from
getfoleo/pluginsin Claude Code or Codex to add the Foleo connection and its skill in one step. - MCPBeta Claude and Claude Code identify themselves when they connect, so the approval page shows that the app is published by claude.ai, and reconnecting no longer adds a new app each time.
Changed
- MCPBeta The page where you approve an agent now matches Foleo's sign-in screens and responds as soon as you approve.
Fixed
- Web Revoking an agent connection on the Access page now works on the first click, and the confirmation no longer shows up in the page address.
- macOS 0.1.13 The Publish button no longer stays on "Checking" for pages published before an earlier update; it now shows Published or Update.
- Plugin 0.1.2Beta Install the Foleo plugin from
Changed
- MCPBeta A new connection includes publishing active HTML, changing page settings, and deleting when you approve it, so apps like claude.ai no longer need a second approval for those. Purge stays in the dashboard and the CLI.
Added
- MCPBeta Add Foleo as a custom connector in claude.ai, Claude Desktop, and the Claude mobile apps.
- macOS 0.1.12 Enlarge embedded diagrams, block images, and tables in a focused full-window viewer.
- macOS 0.1.12 Open your published-page library from Account Settings or the command palette.
- Web Choose whether published Markdown front matter starts collapsed, expanded, or stays hidden.
- CLI 0.1.32Beta
foleo logoutsigns the CLI out and revokes its key, and signing in again now revokes the key it replaces instead of leaving it active.
Changed
- CLI 0.1.32Beta An ordinary
foleo loginnow includes reversible delete; only purge still needsfoleo login --allow-purge. - CLI 0.1.32Beta The bundled agent skill now tells agents about the remote MCP server, with the CLI still the documented default.
Added
- MCPBeta Connected agents can publish, update, change settings, unpublish, delete, and restore your pages, and publish active HTML after you approve it in your browser.
Added
- MCPBeta Connect an AI agent to your invited Publish account through the remote MCP server at
https://mcp.foleo.app/mcp. You sign in and approve access in your browser; there is no key to paste.
- MCPBeta Connect an AI agent to your invited Publish account through the remote MCP server at
Changed
- CLI 0.1.28Beta Usage errors now name the command they came from, and the help and agent skill state each command's limits.
Fixed
- CLI 0.1.27Beta A malformed
--revisionvalue now fails with an explanation of the expected format instead of a generic error.
Changed
- macOS 0.1.11 Change a page's link right where it's shown: click the link, type a new name, and save. The old link keeps working, and older links can be made the main link again or removed.
- Web The dashboard's Manage panel edits a page's link in place the same way, with older links listed underneath.
- macOS 0.1.10 The Publish panel's Access and Address settings now sit in one tidy list, and changing an address opens inline with the site name, a clear choice for the old address, and Cancel and Change address side by side. The old address stays working by default.
- macOS 0.1.10 Site names show
.foleo.siteinside the field, say plainly when a name is taken or is already the current address, and no longer spill past the edge of the panel. - Web The dashboard's Manage panel is narrower and no longer runs off its right edge. The live link has inline copy and open buttons, addresses show which one is primary, and access is a single three-way switch.
- Web Changing an address checks availability as you type and recognizes the current address and existing aliases. Library and Usage no longer stretch across very wide screens.
- CLI 0.1.27Beta A malformed
Added
- CLI 0.1.24Beta
foleo name attach <id> <label>gives an existing page a readable name. - CLI 0.1.26Beta
--dry-runpreviewsfoleo name attach, name setandname releasebefore anything changes. - macOS 0.1.8 Change a published HTML page's address from the Publish popover. You choose whether the old address keeps working or stops, and an address you let go of stays reserved for you for 30 days.
- Web Published HTML pages can be given a new address from the dashboard, keep old addresses as working aliases, or release an address you no longer need. An address you release stays reserved for you for 30 days.
- CLI 0.1.25Beta The same from the terminal:
foleo nameslists a page's addresses, foleo name setgives it a new one (keeping or releasing the old one), andfoleo name releasefrees an address.
Fixed
- macOS 0.1.9 Publishing an HTML page checks its address before uploading anything, so an invalid or unavailable name fails immediately instead of after the upload.
- macOS 0.1.9 Changing a page's address can no longer be submitted twice, and a page without an address shows that clearly instead of a broken link.
- Web Pages without an address show a clear state in the dashboard instead of a broken link, and address errors clear when you close the dialog.
- CLI 0.1.24Beta
Fixed
- CLI 0.1.23Beta
foleo listnow shows each page's name.
- CLI 0.1.23Beta
Added
- CLI 0.1.21Beta
--dry-runon an HTML publish shows the full plan first: the address and whether it is available, title, visibility, routes, and the largest and skipped files.
Fixed
- CLI 0.1.22Beta Every command now honors
--dry-run; before, some commands accepted it and made the change anyway.
- CLI 0.1.21Beta
Changed
- CLI 0.1.18Beta Every failure reports a stable error code. With
--json, failures print a machine-readable error instead of empty output, and a spent quota fails right away instead of waiting. - CLI 0.1.20Alpha Publishing HTML takes a site name with
--name, so the site gets a readable address instead of a generated one.

- CLI 0.1.15Beta
foleo settings <id>shows a page's settings, and--set key=valuechanges them.
Security
- CLI 0.1.15Beta Page passwords are read with
--password-stdininstead of a command-line argument, so they never show up in process listings or shell history.
- CLI 0.1.15Beta
Changed
- CLI 0.1.13Beta Publishing a file that is already published now points you to the existing page instead of creating a duplicate.
Fixed
- CLI 0.1.12Beta The package installs correctly from npm again.
- macOS 0.1.7 Reload now refreshes the active artifact everywhere—text, HTML, images, diagrams, and other viewers—whether you use ⌘R, File → Reload, or a tab's context menu. HTML previews and images also reliably show the current file instead of a cached frame.
- macOS 0.1.7 Publishing a copied or reconnected Markdown or HTML file no longer silently creates a duplicate. Foleo identifies exact owner matches, offers a named reconnect choice, and keeps Publish separately as an explicit override when you really want another artifact.
Added
- Web Published artifacts can now be deleted, restored during their retention window, or permanently purged. Unpublishing remains a separate reversible action, so taking a link offline never destroys its content by accident.
- CLI 0.1.11Beta The same from the terminal with
foleo unpublish, foleo delete, foleo restore, foleo purgeandfoleo deletion-status, andfoleo listcan filter by kind and format.
Fixed
- CLI 0.1.10Beta Publishing a site with many files no longer fails when uploads are throttled; the CLI waits and retries.
- Web Videos and other third-party embeds on published pages now load instead of showing a player configuration error.
- macOS 0.1.6 When a site contains a file type Foleo cannot publish, the error now names every file involved instead of failing without saying which one was the problem.
- Web Library grid previews now load only around what is on screen and are released once scrolled well past, so a large library no longer keeps every preview alive at once.
- Web Hosted HTML artifacts on a phone now use the same full-height canvas as their direct pages, with Publish navigation overlaid above safely inset artifact content.
- Web Published documents and hosted HTML artifacts now fill the screen on a phone instead of rendering inside a bordered card with empty space around it, matching how they already open on desktop.
- Web The Publish dashboard, sign-in, and ops pages no longer show dark bands above and below the page in mobile Safari — every surface now fills the screen in the same tone the browser paints its chrome with.
- Web The selected item in the mobile navigation menu is no longer a near-white block, and menus, popovers, and focused text fields have quieter, better-fitting styling.
Added
- macOS 0.1.6 Sites published from Foleo can now include the ordinary web files a real site ships —
robots.txt,sitemap.xml, a web app manifest, source maps, and WebVTT caption tracks. A single one of these previously made an entire site fail to publish. - Web Published sites now serve their own
404.html, when the site includes one, for addresses that do not exist — instead of a Foleo-branded page. - Web Trusted HTML publishers can upload multi-page static sites with local CSS, JavaScript, images, fonts, and other allowed assets; authored links receive clean page and directory routes without an SPA fallback.
Changed
- Web The Publish Library has a new browser: an Apple Notes-style list, an optional grid view where each card previews the live published page, optional date grouping (Today / Yesterday / Previous 7 Days / Previous 30 Days / month), sorting by date or title, and a filter for documents vs sites. Your choices are remembered per device. Status and visibility now appear only on items that need attention rather than on every row.
- Web The Publish dashboard has a rebuilt phone layout: the top bar now stays pinned while the page scrolls — including the document title and Manage control on document and artifact pages — the menu button moved to the top left and opens a full-width navigation panel, the account menu is a separate avatar button that can no longer stack on top of that panel, the Library shows a page title plus each item's status, visibility, and last update, and menu and form controls are sized for touch.
Added
- macOS 0.1.5 Publishing any HTML page inside a site rooted at an exact lowercase
index.htmlnow publishes or updates the complete site—its other pages, navigation, images, and static assets—while independent HTML files remain standalone. - Web Published Markdown documents and HTML artifacts now open inside the Publish dashboard, with the Library sidebar kept visible and a shared management menu for titles, links, access, password protection, and unpublishing where supported.
Changed
- Web The Publish Library is now a focused artifact list instead of a statistics dashboard. Recent items navigate directly to their document, document navigation uses the full workspace width, and mobile layouts use a compact slide-out menu with Library, Usage, Recents, and account controls.
- Web Dashboard account controls now show the signed-in person and active
{handle}.foleo.siteworkspace instead of generic organization placeholders.
Fixed
- macOS 0.1.5 SVG, Mermaid, and image previews now open fitted to the window; small assets enlarge to a useful size, oversized assets remain fully visible, and tiny files no longer disappear in Fit mode.
- macOS 0.1.5 Files opened externally now remain in the focused workspace when it contains them, rather than unexpectedly switching to a nested workspace.
- macOS 0.1.5 Public builds once again include Settings → Account and the Publish controls for invited accounts.
- Web Private Markdown previews now use the same renderer, frontmatter, typography, task-list styling, and full-width navigation treatment as published pages; artifact management popovers also remain usable when password controls expand.
- macOS 0.1.5 Publishing any HTML page inside a site rooted at an exact lowercase
Added
- CLI 0.1.5Beta
foleo --versionreports the installed version, andfoleo doctorincludes it. - CLI 0.1.6Beta
foleo doctorwarns when a globally installed CLI is behind the latest release. - CLI 0.1.9Alpha Publish a folder as a multi-page HTML site.
- macOS 0.1.4 Type
[[in Preview to pick a note. The list filters as you type, ↑/↓ and Enter choose, Escape cancels and leaves your text alone, and clicking a result works too. Add a display name with[[Note|shown as this]], or select text first and the picker wraps it as the link's label. - macOS 0.1.3 Foleo Publish is now available in the app for alpha testers. Sign in under Settings → Account, then use the Publish button in the tab bar to put the current Markdown file at your
{handle}.foleo.siteaddress and update it in place from Foleo. Publish controls stay hidden until you sign in with an invited account, so nothing changes if you are not in the alpha yet.
Fixed
- CLI 0.1.7Beta The out-of-date warning now gives advice that also works when you run the CLI through
npx. - macOS 0.1.4 Wiki-links can now be typed by hand in Preview. Typing
[[used to auto-insert]], which completed the link on your first keystroke and threw the cursor past it —[[Road]]came out as[[R]]oad. Square brackets no longer auto-close in Markdown, so[label](url)now needs its own closing]. - macOS 0.1.4 Clicking a link whose target doesn't exist now tells you so instead of doing nothing at all. Previously a wiki-link to a note you hadn't created yet simply did nothing when clicked, which looked like the link wasn't linked to anything.
- macOS 0.1.4 Editing an existing
[[wiki-link]]now shows it as a note (with its alias) instead of mislabelling it "Link to web page". Typing a URL over it still creates a web link. - macOS 0.1.3 The "Update available" button now appears promptly. Foleo re-checks when you switch back to it, instead of only at launch and on an hourly timer that macOS throttles while the window is in the background — previously an already-open window could sit for an hour or more, and the update often only surfaced when you opened a new window. When any window finds an update, every open window now shows the button.
- Web Published Markdown pages reflow single newlines as spaces instead of mid-sentence line breaks. An explicit trailing double-space or backslash still forces a break.

- CLI 0.1.1Beta
foleo doctorchecks your setup, andfoleo skill getprints the agent skill bundled with the installed version.

- CLI 0.1.1Beta The CLI signs in with its own
foleo loginand no longer reads the Mac app's Keychain, so it stops triggering Keychain prompts. - CLI 0.1.2Beta Sign-in hints now say
npx -y @foleo/cli login, matching the documented way to run the CLI. - macOS 0.1.2 The CLI no longer picks up a Mac app Publish sign-in. Run

- macOS 0.1.2 Markdown paragraphs written with hard-wrapped source lines now reflow as flowing text in Preview instead of breaking mid-sentence; the paragraph your cursor is in still shows its real source lines for editing. In-app rendered previews match.
- macOS 0.1.2 Fenced code blocks in Preview now render with syntax colors.
- CLI 0.1.1Beta
Fixed
- macOS 0.1.1 Approving Publish sign-in in the browser now keeps you signed in in the Mac app.
- Web Published Markdown pages keep YAML front matter in the same reading column as the article, collapsed behind a Front matter disclosure so the document heading is the page start. Front matter type is smaller than the article, and the top nav has breathing room above the brand and controls.
- macOS 0.1.0 Unsaved edits can no longer be lost while a file is autosaving. If you kept typing during an autosave, a background re-read of the just-written file could replace what you had typed and mark the tab as already saved, leaving the next autosave with nothing to save. Markdown and HTML files were affected; images, data files, SVGs, Mermaid diagrams, and CSV/TSV already had the guard. Editing a file that also changes on disk now always keeps your unsaved version.
- macOS 0.1.0 Foleo Publish: moving or renaming a published file — in Finder or the Foleo sidebar — no longer breaks its link to the live page. Update and Unpublish keep working after a move, and publishing again updates the same page instead of creating a duplicate. If a file's link is ever lost (for example, a folder was reorganized while Foleo was closed), Foleo flags it and offers a new Reconnect to an existing publish… action in the owner popover — it relinks to the existing page after you confirm the exact URL, and never guesses from the file's name or contents.
- macOS 0.1.0 Frontmatter values no longer get clipped in narrow split-view panes; long values wrap instead.
- macOS 0.1.0 Images no longer accumulate extra empty space below them across edits, and broken images release the space reserved for the original image.
- macOS 0.1.0 Clicking a link no longer silently strands the cursor at its previous off-screen position — typing after a link click now edits where you clicked instead of jumping to the top of the document.
- macOS 0.1.0 Pressing Enter on an empty quote line now exits the blockquote (one level at a time for nested quotes), matching Obsidian and Typora, and empty quote separator lines no longer show a stray
>in the preview.
Added
- Web The first time you sign in to Publish, you choose your
{handle}.foleo.siteaddress before anything is created. We suggest one from your email, and you can edit it. This address cannot be changed later (for now). - Web After you approve Mac or CLI sign-in, the browser opens a Foleo connected page with your library, CLI install, and agent skill — instead of a blank localhost tab.
- macOS 0.1.0 Open
.txtand.textfiles in a lightweight editor, inspect.logfiles read-only, and review.srt/.vttcaptions in a structured cue table or exact Source view. Clean open files automatically refresh when agents or other processes update them on disk. - macOS 0.1.0 Open images, data files, SVGs, and Mermaid diagrams as first-class tabs. PNG/JPEG/GIF/WebP/AVIF images get a proper viewer with fit, actual size, zoom, pan, keyboard zoom (⌘+/⌘−/⌘0), and a metadata strip; right-click for Open in Default App, Reveal in Finder, and Copy Path. JSON, YAML, and TOML open as a searchable tree alongside a syntax-highlighted source editor, with large numbers kept exact and parse errors reported with line and column.
.svgfiles render sanitized — scripts, event handlers, and remote references are stripped, with a quiet "Sanitized" badge when anything was removed..mmd/.mermaidfiles render as diagrams that follow the app's light/dark theme, with zoom, pan, and Copy SVG. - macOS 0.1.0 Command palette search now surfaces matching folders (not just files). Selecting a folder expands and reveals it in the sidebar.
- macOS 0.1.0 Foleo Publish (invite-only beta): share your Markdown documents on the web. Sign in from Settings → Account with a one-time email code — no password. The Publish button stays hidden until you sign in with an invited account, then you can publish the document you're editing to a shareable
{handle}.foleo.site/{slug}link. Publishing stays in a compact owner popover right in the editor: see and copy the live URL, choose who can see it, push updates when the document changes, and unpublish at any time (fully reversible). Older/d/links keep working. Published pages render your Markdown the way Foleo shows it. A new Account section in Settings manages your session and shows your usage. - macOS 0.1.0 Edit Markdown tables directly in Preview: click a cell to type in place, Tab/Shift-Tab/Enter/arrows to move between cells, and Tab or Enter past the last row to add a new row. The table stays rendered while you edit and writes back to clean Markdown source.
- macOS 0.1.0 Selection formatting toolbar in Preview: select text to get a floating toolbar with a heading/text style menu, Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, Code, and a unified Link button. The Link button opens a "Paste URL or search notes" field — paste a URL to make a web link, or type a note name to insert a wiki-link; either way your selected text stays as the visible label.
- macOS 0.1.0 Hover a rendered link (web or wiki-link) to see its destination with Open, Copy, and Edit actions. Clicking a link opens it; Copy confirms with a checkmark; Edit opens the link's target for changing in place.
Changed
- macOS 0.1.0 Overhauled the Markdown editing experience to feel like a first-class editor: clicking places the cursor exactly where you click (including next to bold, headings, links, and list markers), rendered text no longer shifts when you click near it, list bullets/numbers/checkboxes and other rich elements stay rendered while you edit, selection paints as one continuous highlight, and typing stays fast on large documents. Backspace/Delete around styled text now removes the whole construct cleanly instead of stranding stray markers.
- macOS 0.1.0 Wiki-links inside headings now render at the heading's size, and editing an aliased wiki-link keeps its display text.

Changed
- macOS 0.0.37 Improved HTML trust prompts so scripted previews explain when they are static, name the workspace or project scope being trusted, and confirm the exact folder path before interactive HTML is enabled.
- macOS 0.0.37 Refined Settings layout and button styling for HTML preview and update controls, including clearer trusted/sandboxed scope management and less cramped cards.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.37 Restored trusted HTML decisions from older Foleo/Folio app identities so previously trusted projects keep running interactive previews after app updates.
- macOS 0.0.37 Fixed workspace picker routing so opening another workspace creates or focuses the correct workspace window instead of showing the welcome picker.
- macOS 0.0.37 Prevented scripted HTML from briefly rendering with the wrong trust scope while project-root detection is still resolving.
- macOS 0.0.37 Kept explicit static-preview sandbox decisions intact when a user cancels the confirmation to trust that scope.
- macOS 0.0.37 Added visible scroll indicators for HTML previews and aligned the Settings scrollbar with the main editor chrome.
Added
- macOS 0.0.36 Added native multi-window workspace support on macOS. Opening a different folder now creates or focuses a separate Foleo window, while opening a folder that is already live focuses its existing window.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.36 Open Folder, recent workspace shortcuts, Finder/Open With, and dock reopen now route through the same workspace-window flow, so files open in the window for their workspace.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.36 Fixed dragged tab shadows being clipped at the bottom while reordering tabs.
- macOS 0.0.36 Kept file watching, trusted HTML state, preview link opening, and window-drag behavior isolated and working in secondary workspace windows.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.35 Reworked tab drag-to-reorder: the tab you grab now lifts and glides along the bar under your cursor while the others make room, instead of showing a separate preview pill floating below the bar.
- macOS 0.0.34 Sandboxed (untrusted) HTML previews now say when scripts were removed, so a blank-looking page is explained instead of mystifying.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.35 Drag-and-drop inside HTML previews now works (e.g. kanban boards and other interactive artifacts). Tauri's native window drag handler was intercepting drag events before they reached the page; it is now disabled — Foleo does not use native file-drop.
- macOS 0.0.35 The empty area of the tab bar can now be used to drag the window again; it no longer acts as a tab-scroll surface when there aren't enough tabs to overflow it.
- macOS 0.0.34 Trusted HTML previews now actually run scripts. Interactive artifacts — dashboards, reports, single-page tools — render and function like they do in a browser once their folder is trusted, including inline scripts, CDN libraries, relative stylesheets/images/data files, saved state (localStorage and friends), in-page section links, forms, and embeds. Previously they rendered as empty static shells.
- macOS 0.0.34 Editing HTML in Split view no longer resets the interactive preview on every keystroke; the preview now refreshes shortly after you pause typing.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.33 Improved macOS Open With registration for Markdown, HTML, CSV, and TSV files so Finder can confidently offer Foleo for every supported document type.
- macOS 0.0.33 Prevented local release builds from leaving extra Foleo app copies behind that can make Finder show multiple versioned Foleo choices in Open With.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.32 Registered Foleo with macOS as an editor for Markdown, HTML, CSV, and TSV files so it appears in Finder's Open With choices and can open those documents directly.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.31 Update prompts now appear when an update is detected after launch, even before a workspace is selected, with a fallback update button on the welcome screen.
- macOS 0.0.30 Improved tab reordering with a cursor-following drag preview, softer drag styling, and a quieter insertion state.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.31 Fixed Markdown section navigation so the final heading scrolls to the intended position instead of jumping to the bottom of the document.
- macOS 0.0.31 Preserved open tabs when closing or switching workspaces, so returning to a workspace restores its previous editor session.
- macOS 0.0.30 Fixed links and linked buttons inside trusted HTML previews so external web links open in the default browser and
mailto:,tel:, andsms:links open through the system handler. - macOS 0.0.30 Restored the explicit HTML trust boundary: sandboxed HTML stays inert by default, while interactive trusted previews run inside the trusted preview sandbox.
Added
- macOS 0.0.29 Hovering a node in the graph view now shows a read-only, scrollable preview of the file — rendered Markdown, a sandboxed HTML preview, or a CSV/TSV table — with a button to open it in a tab.
- macOS 0.0.29 Added a diagnostics log that records failed or dead link opens, plus a "Foleo → Reveal Diagnostics Log…" menu item to reveal it in Finder for troubleshooting.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.29 Reworked the graph view with a fluid force-directed layout that clusters linked files, plus node dragging, click-to-focus highlighting, middle-button panning, and an edge-to-edge canvas.
- macOS 0.0.29 The graph view now shows every workspace artifact (Markdown, HTML, CSV/TSV) by default, in step with the sidebar, instead of hiding data files behind a setting.
- macOS 0.0.29 Made the graph view open faster and stay smooth on large workspaces, and stopped it from reloading and rearranging itself unnecessarily.
- macOS 0.0.29 Removed the undo/redo buttons from the CSV/table toolbar for consistency with the Markdown view; undo and redo still work via the keyboard (⌘Z / ⌘⇧Z) and the Edit menu.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.29 Fixed external links written without a URL scheme (for example
example.comorwww.foo.io) silently failing to open in the browser; a real workspace file with the same name still takes precedence.
Added
- macOS 0.0.28 Added Obsidian-style backlinks with linked mentions, unlinked mentions, context snippets, embed metadata, and a hidden-but-retained backlinks sidebar foundation.
- macOS 0.0.28 Added a workspace graph view as an editor tab with global/local modes, filtering, depth controls, graph settings, clickable nodes, hover previews, pan/zoom controls, and graph display persistence.
- macOS 0.0.28 Added sidebar file move support so files can be reorganized from the workspace tree.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.28 Updated the sidebar with workspace tool controls for Settings and Graph view while keeping the file tree behavior intact.
- macOS 0.0.28 Improved Markdown link rendering so Obsidian wikilinks use Foleo file-type icons, show heading/block targets in the visible label when no alias is present, and keep aliases as the primary display text.
- macOS 0.0.28 Improved Markdown section rail and in-document navigation so bottom-of-page headings, cross-note heading links, and Obsidian block references scroll to the intended location.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.28 Fixed workspace link navigation so Obsidian-style wikilinks, URL-decoded Markdown links, extensionless note links,
.markdownnote links, aliases, escaped#/|filenames, case-insensitive paths, heading anchors, and block anchors resolve consistently. - macOS 0.0.28 Fixed graph/backlink indexing for attachment embeds, HTML links with newline/tab-separated attributes, ambiguous links, source spans, and
.obsidian/vault config exclusion. - macOS 0.0.28 Fixed local graph scope so opening the graph tab can still use the most recent file tab as the local graph root.
- macOS 0.0.28 Fixed backlinks refresh races so stale async results from a previous active file cannot overwrite the current backlink state.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.27 Raised the packaged macOS minimum to 13.6 to avoid presenting older Ventura WebKit builds as supported.
- macOS 0.0.26 Made desktop startup feel snappier by painting React before backend workspace restore completes.
- macOS 0.0.26 Deferred full-text search indexing until after the workspace file list is ready.
- macOS 0.0.26 Reduced cold-launch editor work by lazy-loading heavy app, command palette, and editor pane modules.
- macOS 0.0.26 Restored only the active tab immediately on launch while keeping inactive tabs deferred until first selected.
- macOS 0.0.25 Aligned Markdown WYSIWYG selection with CodeMirror's drawn-selection model, clipping selection rectangles to the readable text column instead of custom-painting native-style highlights.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.27 Added an editor-pane error boundary so file-rendering failures show a recoverable message instead of blanking the app shell.
- macOS 0.0.25 Stabilized Markdown WYSIWYG selection and caret behavior by removing React-level pointerdown interception and relying on CodeMirror's selection lifecycle.
- macOS 0.0.25 Kept Markdown preview file-link icons visible across link clicks and selection changes.
- macOS 0.0.25 Opened external Markdown preview links through the system browser while preserving in-app navigation for supported workspace Markdown and HTML files.
- macOS 0.0.25 Fixed trusted workspace HTML map links so source-doc links route back through Foleo tabs or the system browser without remounting the app shell.
Added
- macOS 0.0.25 Added token-validated trusted HTML navigation message handling with regression coverage.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.24 Prevented command-palette workspace search from crashing the macOS app when a matching long Markdown/HTML/table line contains non-ASCII text.
- macOS 0.0.23 Kept native macOS update prompts compact by summarizing release notes before passing them to the native confirmation dialog.
- macOS 0.0.22 Stabilized Markdown preview scrolling by disabling ProseMark soft-indent in Foleo's setup, rendering the rich preview with a full-document viewport, and preserving the outer scroll anchor during geometry changes.
- macOS 0.0.22 Reduced Markdown preview layout shifts by reserving and caching heights for Mermaid, table, HTML, and image widgets, including already-cached local images.
- macOS 0.0.22 Stopped quote-marker decorations from rebuilding on every scroll frame.
- macOS 0.0.22 Tuned website demo anchor offsets so navigation lands on the intended preview content.
Added

- macOS 0.0.22 Refreshed the website artifact preview with richer HTML and CSV examples, updated preview interactions, and tighter demo anchor behavior.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.22 Reworked the desktop Markdown editor surface with expanded live-preview styling, section rail integration, preview-mode selection, command palette search improvements, and settings/sidebar polish.
- macOS 0.0.22 Improved Markdown table presentation, including grey header rows, aligned table styling, and horizontal overflow behavior.
- macOS 0.0.22 Made macOS updater notes come from the committed release changelog section instead of generic release text.
Changed
- macOS 0.0.21 Improved Markdown preview frontmatter rendering with a capped scroll area, nested metadata support, and cleaner chip styling.
- macOS 0.0.21 Added file-type icons to supported relative Markdown preview links and tightened the inline link icon spacing.
- macOS 0.0.21 Added Reload, Open in Finder, Copy Path, Copy Relative Path, and Close Tab context-menu actions across sidebar and editor tabs.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.21 Made symlinked files visible in the sidebar, marked symlink entries, and followed symlinked folders only when they resolve inside the workspace.
- macOS 0.0.21 Preserved displayed symlink paths for reveal/copy/open actions while keeping read/write access constrained to resolved in-workspace paths.
- macOS 0.0.21 Refined Markdown preview code-block copy buttons with hover-only backgrounds and copied checkmark feedback.
- macOS 0.0.21 Restored the unsaved tab indicator after the tab context-menu changes.

- macOS 0.0.20 Kept the welcome splash theme-aware in dark mode with a darker palette surface and no card outline.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.19 Aligned the welcome screen surface with the resolved app theme instead of forcing separate OS appearance styles.
- macOS 0.0.19 Improved light-mode welcome recent-folder hover states and kept the welcome title lowercase.
- macOS 0.0.19 Replaced the workspace switcher glyph with the shared icon set for a more consistent sidebar control.
Fixed
- macOS 0.0.18 Made the welcome splash card an opaque white surface while leaving the outer welcome background unchanged.
- macOS 0.0.17 Load trusted workspace HTML previews as real local files through Tauri's asset protocol so packaged macOS builds run full interactive HTML artifacts like dashboards, decks, and canvas maps.
- macOS 0.0.17 Allow Tauri asset-protocol URLs in packaged HTML preview frame and script CSP directives.
- macOS 0.0.16 Restored packaged macOS HTML artifact interactivity by loading trusted previews through Blob object URLs instead of large
data:URLs, which could render static HTML while failing to execute the script tail in WKWebView. - macOS 0.0.15 Made opened workspace HTML files run interactively by default so generated dashboards, decks, controls, and local HTML artifacts behave like browser-opened files.
- macOS 0.0.15 Allowed packaged HTML preview frames to load generated
data:documents for interactive local previews. - macOS 0.0.14 Restored script execution for trusted HTML previews by loading trusted workspace documents through
srcdocinstead ofblob:URLs. - macOS 0.0.14 Routed trusted HTML preview links for workspace Markdown and HTML files through Foleo tabs.
- macOS 0.0.13 Moved hidden DMG support files outside the installer window so
.backgrounddoes not appear when Finder is configured to show hidden files. - macOS 0.0.12 Allowed trusted HTML previews to run inline scripts under the packaged macOS app CSP so local dashboards and generated HTML controls respond correctly.

- macOS 0.0.6 Updated the macOS desktop app icon and generated platform icon assets from the new source artwork.
- macOS 0.0.6 Renamed the CSV table view toggle to Preview so the label better matches the editor surface.
Added
- macOS 0.0.4 Sidebar update affordance: when an update is found quietly, Foleo now shows a small Update available button with a download icon instead of interrupting the current workspace.
- macOS 0.0.3 Workspace trust UX for interactive HTML previews: users can trust a workspace or keep it sandboxed, matching an IDE-like local artifact browser flow.
- macOS 0.0.3 In-preview
Trust workspaceaction for sandboxed HTML tabs so agent-generated HTML can be enabled without leaving the file. - macOS 0.0.3 Signed/notarized macOS release artifacts uploaded to Cloudflare R2, including the stable latest DMG and Tauri updater manifest.
Changed
